Who this course is for

This 13-week course is ideal for adults who want to build confidence using computers, Microsoft Office applications and online services, whether for everyday life, further study or employment.

Entry Requirements

You must be aged 19 or over on or before 31 August of the current Academic Year and must reside in England on the first day of learning.

What you’ll learn

Develop the digital skills employers value. This course helps learners use digital devices confidently, communicate effectively online, create and format documents in Microsoft Word, manage information and calculations in Microsoft Excel, and produce professional presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, while working towards a nationally recognised Pearson qualification. This course will prepare you for the Pearson Digital Functional Skills Entry Level 3 and Level 1 qualifications.

How you’ll learn

Learners will attend a two-hour class each week in a supportive and friendly adult learning environment. Sessions will be tutor-led, with demonstrations of Microsoft Office applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint delivered at the front of the class. Learners will then complete practical tasks to develop and practise their skills, with guidance and individual support provided by the tutor throughout the session. This hands-on approach allows learners to build confidence and apply their learning at their own pace.

What you’ll need to bring

Just bring yourself, a notebook and pen, and a willingness to learn. Any additional equipment or resources will be provided or discussed before the course begins.

How you’ll be assessed

Assessment is through a short end-of-course exam. You will be fully prepared throughout the course, with plenty of practice and support to help them approach the assessment with confidence.

What you can do next

After completing this qualification, learners can progress to a higher-level Digital Functional Skills course, further Microsoft Office training, or other IT and vocational qualifications. These skills can also support employment, career development, volunteering and further study.
